Kürt in education
We support education. Why education? Because we had to choose from among the limitless number of things we could have supported, and this is what we chose.
Why did we have to choose? Because we are socially sensitive, but our options are limited. Education is the field that, by way of the lives of our children, determines both our future and their future. Well, that’s something worth devoting time and energy to, under all circumstances.
Kürt Foundation Secondary School
In 1991, we made a donation that was immense compared to our available financial resources (the total after-tax profits of 1990) but insignificant compared to the capital necessary for establishing a school: we supported the starting of the KÜRT Foundation Secondary School.
An excerpt from the deed of foundation:
“The purpose of the foundation: to organize and maintain secondary school education that closes the gap between life and the education provided by institutions and restores the fundamental task of teaching: namely to provide knowledge experienced first hand and provide true, independent cognitive experiences.
Accordingly, teaching is primarily not a transfer of knowledge but a form of awareness-raising. By developing individual abilities, the school aims to develop harmonious individuals capable of seeing the different spheres of life and reality as an integral whole.”
We are happy that we gave our money and our name to a good cause at the right time. We are proud of KÜRT Secondary School’s teachers and students (even if they sometimes give us a good walloping in a football game).

“Hátrányos helyzetű, elsősorban cigány származású gyerekek oktatásáért” Foundation (Foundation for the Education of Disadvantaged Children Mainly of Roma Origin)
In 1996, we established the Foundation for the Education of Disadvantaged Children Mainly of Roma Origin at the University of Pannonia addition, at the time called the University of Veszprém. This is where we found the professors who are dedicated to this issue.
The Foundation’s mission:
“to provide support for talented, but disadvantaged secondary school students of mostly Roma origin, allowing them the possibility to pursue higher education. Special emphasis is placed on the need for supporting young people of Roma origin in their path towards earning their degrees, thus giving an example to others and helping the entire Roma community leading a disadvantaged minority life.”
